The Corps was called out for Active service by Proclam-
ation of His Excellency the Governor on 5th August,1914, and
the mobilization positions were manned according to the def-
ence scheme.
The out-lying detachments were withdrawn on 22nd August
1914 and went into the General Reserve.
On the 16th August the Corps moved into camp on the
Corps Parade Ground, until the 16th December, 1914.
From the 14th May, 1915, a guard of one officer and 27
rank and file was maintained at the Prisoners of War Camp and
an in-lying picquet of one officer and 24 rank and file until
the 17th January, 1916 when the prisoners of war went to Aus-
tralia. All the officere took their turn of duty with these
guards in rotation.
A guard of one non-commissioned officer and three men
was found from dusk to dawn at TAT-HO-WAN (Telegraph Bay]
from 21st January to 20th March 1916. A guard of one non-
commissioned officer and six men has been maintained nightly
over the Naval Wireless Station at STONECUTTERS ISTAND since
1st January, 1916.
The above-mentioned guards were found on alternate weeks by the nongkong Volunteer Corps and Hongkong Volunteer
Reserve.

A special section of Artillery has been trained with 6" guns at Belchers Fort which released a number of regular
Artillery for service in Europe.
